Role overview

This job description has been rewritten in fresh language using the facts in the listing. Source credit and original listing details are available below.

TRM Labs is hiring a full-time, remote GEOINT Analyst for its Scam Disruption team. The role focuses on locating scam compounds, identifying the people and devices involved, and tracing how operations move. You will combine geospatial intelligence with on-chain attribution and open-source intelligence to turn leads—such as an address, IP, image, or victim report—into actionable views of networks and their operators for law enforcement and government partners.

You will work with the Scams Expert Threat Intelligence Analyst, the CTI Analyst, and the All-Source Lead to develop targeting packages that support disruption efforts. The team sits within TRM’s Blockchain Intelligence organization and works alongside threat intelligence analysts, on-chain investigators, and federal partners. It is distributed and async-first, using Slack and Notion alongside structured meetings. The team holds weekly priority and opportunity reviews, daily async updates, and documents work in Notion and TRM investigative tools. Primary time-zone overlap is US Eastern and Central, and surge availability is expected during time-sensitive disruption windows.

The position is remote in the US, including Washington, DC, and the description also lists the UK and EMEA as eligible locations. Applicants must already have the right to work in the location where they are based. Compensation is $115,000–$160,000 per year. TRM describes a fast-moving, high-ownership environment where priorities can shift and work may involve ambiguity, close cross-functional collaboration, and urgent problem-solving.

The interview process typically includes a recruiter introduction, a hiring-manager discussion, one or two skills-focused interviews, a hands-on case study, references, and an offer stage. Candidates are also assessed on applied AI fluency; AI tools cannot be used during interviews without prior approval.

Role at a glance: TRM Labs seeks a remote GEOINT Analyst to map scam operations and develop actionable intelligence for disruption efforts; compensation is $115,000–$160,000 per year.

Responsibilities mentioned in the listing

  • Locate and map scam compounds, individuals, and devices.
  • Combine GEOINT with on-chain attribution and OSINT to identify scam operators and controllers.
  • Develop a broader network picture from individual leads such as crypto addresses, IP addresses, photos, or victim reports.
  • Work with scam, cyber threat intelligence, and all-source colleagues to create targeting packages for law enforcement and government action.

Qualifications stated in the listing

  • 3–5 years of hands-on GEOINT experience in the military, intelligence community, law enforcement, or a GEOINT/OSINT firm.
  • Ability to produce findings with open-source and commercial tools when classified systems or data are unavailable.
  • Strong tactical analysis skills, including moving from an individual lead to a network view and identifying the people behind operations.
  • Proficiency in link and pattern analysis, with the ability to correlate varied data sources into defensible target packages.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining methods, confidence, and personal contributions; writing actionable memos, attribution analyses, and leads.
  • Required: practical use of AI tools to synthesize information, draft work, and accelerate analysis, with examples of their impact on your work. AI fluency will be assessed during interviews.
  • Crypto experience is helpful but not required; familiarity with Southeast Asian scam compounds or Chinese-run criminal networks is also a plus.
  • Must already have the right to work in the location where you are based.

Build a Safer World.

TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. TRM's platforms enable investigators to trace illicit activity, build cases, and construct operating pictures of threat networks. Leading agencies and businesses worldwide rely on TRM to make the world safer and more secure.

About the Role

The Scam Disruption team is TRM's tip of the spear against pig butchering syndicates, romance fraud networks, and investment scam operations that steal billions from victims each year. As a GEOINT Analyst, you’ll be the team's location specialist: finding where scam compounds are, who is operating them, and how they move, then turning that picture into intelligence law enforcement partners can act on.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Locate and map scam compounds, people, and devices

  • Fuse intelligence with on-chain attribution and OSINT to identify operators and controllers

  • Find the seams: pivot from a single address, IP, photo, or victim lead to the compound and the people running it

  • Partner with the Threat Intelligence Analyst (Scams Expert), the CTI Analyst, and the All-Source Lead to translate disruption strategy into targeting packages that influence law enforcement and government action

What We're Looking For

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on GEOINT experience: military, IC, law enforcement, or a GEOINT/OSINT firm

  • Works beyond the government toolkit: you can get answers from open-source and commercial tools when classified systems and data aren't available

  • Creative tactical thinking — demonstrated ability to pivot from a single point to a network view, identifying operators behind operations

  • Link and pattern analysis fluency — ability to correlate disparate data sources to generate defensible target packages

  • Clear written and verbal communication: you can explain your methods, your confidence, and your own role in plain terms, and write memos, attribution write-ups, and leads that are actionable

  • AI fluency (required) — you use AI tools in your workflow, synthesizing data, drafting outputs, and accelerating analysis, with examples of how AI has impacted your work

  • Crypto experience is a plus, not a requirement — we teach on-chain tradecraft; we cannot teach the targeter's instinct

  • Familiarity with Southeast Asia scam compounds or Chinese-run criminal networks is a plus

  • Location: remote in the UK, EMEA, or US (including Washington, DC). You must already have the right to work where you're based.

About the Team

  • The Scam Disruption team operates within TRM’s Blockchain Intelligence organization, alongside threat intelligence analysts, on-chain investigators, and federal partners

  • All-Source Investigators are the operational core, converting strategy and tooling into prosecutable, actionable intelligence

  • Distributed team with an async-first approach via Slack and Notion, plus structured syncs for alignment

  • High autonomy, high standards, low bureaucracy — work directly with analysts, engineers, and customers who depend on your output

Team Operating Rhythms

  • Weekly team syncs to align targeting priorities and review disruption opportunities

  • Daily async standups via Slack on active work, returns, and target packages in flight

  • Primary time zone overlap: US Eastern / Central

  • All output documented in Notion and TRM’s investigative tools

  • Surge availability expected during time-sensitive disruption windows

Our work sits at the intersection of AI, national security, and fighting crime. The problems are complex, the stakes are real, and the environment evolves quickly. The pace and intensity of the work reflect the importance of the mission. As a result, the way we operate requires a high level of ownership, adaptability, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

At TRM, you should expect:

We also recognize that this style of operating is not for everyone. If you are primarily optimizing for predictability or a consistently balanced workload, we encourage you to use the interview process to pressure-test whether this environment is truly the right fit. We want teammates who thrive here, not just survive here.

If you are excited by meaningful problems, motivated by ambitious goals, and energized by working alongside mission-driven colleagues, there is a good chance you will find TRM to be an exceptional place to grow and contribute.

  • Inspiring Colleague: We add clarity and energy, not noise. We bring humility, candor, and a one‑team mindset — giving and receiving feedback to make the team stronger.

Join our Mission

At TRM, we care deeply about our craft. We are looking for individuals who want their work to matter, who experiment with speed and rigor, and who take pride in building a safer world for billions of people. If you’re excited by TRM’s mission but don’t check every box, we encourage you to apply — we hire for slope, judgment, and the will to learn fast.
