Veeam Software is hiring a Senior Director of Global Compensation for a full-time, remote role in the United States. The position leads the design and ongoing development of compensation programs across a global workforce, supporting hiring and employee engagement. It serves as the company’s compensation subject matter expert and advises senior leaders in partnership with business teams and colleagues in People Partnering, Talent Acquisition, HR Technology, Finance, and Legal.

The remit includes compensation planning, benchmarking, job architecture, performance management, cost modeling, annual compensation cycles, and M&A work. The leader will also advance the use of AI and analytics in compensation, oversee pay equity and transparency readiness—including the EU Pay Transparency Directive—and manage a lean global compensation team. Workday and adjacent systems are part of the operating environment.

The posted annual total target compensation range is $233,334–$668,400, including base pay and a performance-based bonus. The range varies by U.S. geographic zone: Zone 1 (San Francisco Bay Area and New York City boroughs), $321,840–$668,400; Zone 2 (Washington and California excluding the Bay Area), $295,020–$612,700; Zone 3 (Texas, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Oregon, Nevada, Hawaii, New York excluding NYC boroughs, and sales roles in Georgia, Ohio, and Arizona), $268,200–$557,000; and Zone 4 (all other U.S. locations), $233,334–$484,590. Veeam says offers are typically below the range midpoint and considers experience, education, skills, and geographic zone.

Benefits listed include unlimited PTO; 12 paid holidays, including four VeeaMe Days; 24 annual paid volunteer hours; parental leave of eight weeks for all parents and 16 weeks for birthing parents; medical, dental, and vision coverage from the first day; mental health resources; a 401(k) with company matching; fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support; virtual veterinary care; legal, identity-protection, and supplemental health options; tax-advantaged spending accounts; and learning resources, mentoring, workshops, and events.

  • Identify compensation risks and potential pay equity gaps early, and establish preventive controls.
  • Model the costs and effects of program changes, applying AI and advanced analytics to modeling, benchmarking, and design, and set expectations for the team’s use of these tools.

About the role

As Sr. Director of Global Compensation, you will lead the design, execution, and evolution of Veeam’s global compensation framework — supporting our talent acquisition goals and strengthening employee engagement in a competitive market.

Partnering with business leaders across the company, as well as colleagues in People Partnering, Talent Acquisition, HR Technology, Finance, and Legal, you will be our subject matter expert on compensation strategy — advising senior stakeholders on key initiatives and leading programs across compensation planning, benchmarking, job architecture, performance management, cost modeling, annual cycles, and M&A. This is not a caretaker role: we are looking for someone who challenges the status quo, brings AI and analytics into how compensation gets done, and rebuilds what needs rebuilding.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement competitive compensation practices across our global workforce, including salary structures, incentive plans, and equity programs
  • Design and administer compensation programs: annual salary reviews, short- and long-term incentives, equity refreshes, and promotions
  • Keep compensation programs compliant with internal policies and federal, state, and global regulations, and lead our readiness for pay transparency rules, including the EU Pay Transparency Directive
  • Anticipate compensation risks and pay equity gaps before they surface, and put guardrails in place to prevent them
  • Model costs and impact for new or changing programs, using AI and advanced analytics in modeling, benchmarking, and program design, and set how the team applies those tools
  • Deliver data-driven compensation guidance to executives, business leaders, and HR colleagues across every region and function
  • Partner with HR Technology to maintain job architecture and compensation programs in Workday and adjacent systems
  • Lead our participation in compensation surveys, analyzing results to assess competitiveness and meet pay equity reporting requirements
  • Make compensation concepts land — build creative, non-traditional enablement for TAPs, HRBPs, managers, and employees in formats people actually use, not just slide decks and webinars
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a lean global team of compensation professionals
  • Lead compensation workstreams during mergers and acquisitions

What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years leading compensation programs in large global technology organizations, public and private, including people management
  • Proven ability to design and implement compensation strategies for a globally dispersed workforce
  • Exceptional analytical depth — you build the models, stress-test the assumptions, and turn the output into a defensible recommendation
  • Working knowledge of AI in compensation — pay design for AI/ML and other scarce technical talent, plus hands-on use of AI tools for analytics, modeling, and reporting
  • Command of the EU Pay Transparency Directive and comparable pay equity regimes — you lead job leveling, gap reporting, and multi-country transparency readiness, not just monitor it
  • In-depth knowledge of leading global benchmark survey methodologies and practices
  • Strong judgment and attention to detail on sensitive, confidential, time-critical matters
  • Influential leadership and relationship-building skills across business and HR audiences at every level
  • Strong project management and decision-making skills; hands-on and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly
  • Service-minded, with credibility across all levels including executive leadership
  • Self-starter who thrives both independently and on a team
  • Experience with Workday HCM and Advanced Compensation
  • Hands-on data analytics experience: compensation models, dashboards, and reporting that drive executive decisions
  • Deep knowledge of market trends, with a strong network in the compensation community
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field; MS or MBA preferred

What you'll get

  • Unlimited paid time off, 12 paid holidays including 4 global VeeaMe Days for self-care and 24 paid volunteer hours annually through Veeam Cares
  • Paid parental leave: 8 weeks for all parents, 16 weeks for birthing parents
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting on your first day
  • Mental health support, therapy sessions, and digital wellness tools via our Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions
  • Fertility, adoption, and surrogacy support through Maven, plus paid volunteer time
  • AirVet: 24/7 virtual veterinary care at no cost
  • Legal services, identity protection, and supplemental health insurance options
  • Tax-advantaged spending accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting
  • Opportunities to learn and grow through on-demand libraries (LinkedIn Learning, O’Reilly), mentoring, workshops, and learning events like our annual Global Day of Learning
