Socket is hiring a full-time Vulnerability Research Software Engineer for a remote role in the United States, with annual compensation of $110,000–$170,000. The company builds tools that help organizations find, audit, and manage open-source software; it reports raising $125 million in funding and was founded by Feross Aboukhadijeh, a longtime open-source maintainer.

In this role, you’ll develop and scale the infrastructure and tools Socket uses to create and deliver vetted patches for vulnerabilities. The work spans Rust and Unix/Linux engineering, command-line tools, integrations with package managers, APIs, automated patching, and some frontend development. You’ll collaborate with the patch team and security researchers to troubleshoot issues and help provide developers with remediation options for widely used packages.

Socket describes its benefits as including a meaningful equity program, health coverage for employees and their families at 99% coverage, flexible time off, holidays and a winter shutdown, paid parental leave, and quarterly team off-sites. Its interview process includes conversations with Talent, the hiring manager and a peer; a take-home problem with internal and live reviews; a debrief, founder interview, reference checks, and a decision or offer.
