This is a hands-on leadership position: you will set the product marketing strategy and team practices while shaping positioning, guiding major launches, developing customer and competitive insight programs with AI, and working across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing. You will build and coach the PMM team and translate complex technical capabilities into clear stories for audiences ranging from engineers to executives.

The listed compensation is $285,000–$476,000 per year. Location-specific total target cash ranges, inclusive of bonus or commission, are: Colorado, $285,000–$427,000; New York City, $317,000–$476,000; San Francisco Bay Area, $317,000–$476,000; California outside the Bay Area, $285,000–$427,000; and Washington state, $285,000–$427,000. The role is eligible for equity, benefits, and other compensation. Benefits described include medical, dental, and vision coverage (with employee premiums fully paid on select plans), a 401(k) match of up to 1% of eligible pay per pay period, capped at $2,000 annually, flexible time off and paid holidays, stipends, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, fertility, adoption and surrogacy support, backup child care, no-cost access to Modern Health coaching and therapy, and an employee stock purchase program. Stipends include monthly wellness and commuter funds, quarterly learning and development funds, and new-hire home office equipment. Washington-specific details list unlimited PTO, 10–13 holidays annually, medical, dental, and vision PPO and CDHP plans, and a company-sponsored 401(k).

Role at a glance: Amplitude seeks a remote U.S. Head of Product Marketing to lead portfolio positioning, launches, and an AI-native PMM team.

Responsibilities mentioned in the listing

  • Set the overarching positioning and product marketing strategy for Amplitude’s analytics, Statsig, and proactive Agents portfolio.
  • Develop differentiated product narratives that reflect customer needs and how organizations at varying levels of maturity build products.
  • Lead go-to-market planning for new products and capabilities, including messaging, launch strategy, sales enablement, customer evidence, and adoption.
  • Establish team priorities, operating rhythms, and quality standards while coaching product marketers as strategists and storytellers.
  • Build a strong understanding of customers, competitors, and market conditions, and use those findings to inform Product, Engineering, and go-to-market decisions and experiments.
  • Partner across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and executive leadership to align teams and support business outcomes.

Qualifications stated in the listing

  • At least 10 years of product marketing experience, including substantial strategy work for technical enterprise, SaaS, developer, data, or AI/ML products.
  • Experience leading and developing a product marketing team while maintaining a record of hands-on individual contribution.
  • A track record of defining positioning, messaging, go-to-market strategy, and major launches for a multi-product portfolio in complex or fast-changing markets.
  • Strong technical product marketing skills, including the ability to understand data, analytics, AI/ML, or developer platforms, build credibility with engineering teams, and explain technical capabilities in differentiated market language.
  • Able to set direction while personally developing positioning, shaping narratives, speaking with customers, and contributing to demos.
  • An AI-oriented perspective on how AI is changing products, along with a vision for an AI-centered product marketing organization.
  • Strong storytelling skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • Proactive approach to creating and testing initial work with customers, learning from feedback, and iterating without waiting for complete briefs or playbooks.

About The Role & Team

We’re looking for a Head of Product Marketing to define how Amplitude brings its multi-product portfolio to market. You’ll shape the narrative across our analytics platform, Statsig, and our proactive Agents—creating a clear, differentiated story while helping each product win with its target audience.

This is a player-coach role. You’ll set the strategy and operating model for Product Marketing while staying close to the work: shaping positioning, leading major launches, co-building AI loops to deliver customer and competitive insights, and partnering with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing.

You’ll join at an important moment for the portfolio, as Amplitude expands beyond analytics and into experimentation to support the future of product development and iteration. If you’re excited by the opportunity to shape the story and market, build the team, and build an AI native PMM org, you’ll feel right at home.

As a Head of Product Marketing, you will:

  • Define Amplitude’s product narrative and positioning: Own the overarching product marketing strategy and point of view across our multi-product portfolio, including analytics, Statsig, and proactive agents. Develop a differentiated point of view and way to bring the company’s worldview to life, staying close to how teams at all stages of maturity curve are building.

  • Lead GTM strategy for major products and launches: Partner with Product and Engineering to bring new products and capabilities to market—from positioning and messaging to launch strategy, enablement, customer proof, and adoption. Set a creative approach that caters to the audience, market, and maturity of each product.

  • Build and coach a high-performing AI native PMM function: Set the team’s priorities, operating cadence, and bar for quality while developing PMMs into stronger strategists and storytellers.

  • Turn customer and market insight into strategy: Develop a deep understanding of our customers, competitors, and market dynamics. Bring those insights back to Product, Engineering, and GTM to influence the product and experiments.

You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:

  • You’re a player-coach by nature—you can set strategy and lead a team, but you’re equally comfortable writing the positioning, building the narrative, jumping into a customer conversation, or helping shape a demo.

  • You have an AI-native mindset and a point of view on how AI is changing products. You build yourself and have a vision for how PMM should be structured around AI.

  • You’re an exceptional multi-audience storyteller. You can make a complex technical product compelling to an engineer, useful to a product leader, and strategically important to an executive.

  • You are high agency. You don’t wait for the perfect brief or a fully formed playbook; you push your team to make the first draft, test it with customers, learn quickly, and keep improving.

  • You thrive in ambiguity and change. You’re comfortable operating at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing, and you know how to create clarity when the product and market are still evolving.

At a minimum, you need to have:

  • 10+ years of product marketing experience, including significant experience leading product marketing strategy for technical, enterprise, SaaS, developer, data, or AI/ML products.

  • Experience leading and developing a product marketing team, while maintaining a strong track record as a hands-on individual contributor.

  • Demonstrated success defining product positioning, messaging, GTM strategy, and major product launches across a multi-product portfolio in complex or rapidly evolving markets.

  • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and executive leadership to drive cross-functional alignment and business outcomes.

  • Strong technical product marketing experience, with the ability to quickly understand complex systems (data, analytics, AI/ML, or developer platforms), build credibility with engineering teams, and translate technical capabilities into clear, differentiated market narratives.
